LIVERMORE VALLEY VINTNERS COLLECTIVE
THE VISION
Livermore Valley Vintners Collective is a group of like minded winemakers who are part of the thriving Livermore Valley Appellation.
They have undertaken, as a side project, a study in styles with an agreed-upon framework of varietals. It is a contemplation on camaraderie and a meditation on what it means to express one's vision, as part of a group.
The group self selected, but the hope is that each year more of the Livermore Valley wineries will participate, creating a groundswell around this project. Our hope is to have widespread participation in this uniquely focused exhibition of quality and artistry.
THE PROPOSITION
Livermore Valley Vintners Collective is a group of highly motivated and creative winemakers residing in the Livermore Valley. Driven by collaboration and inspiration, the group decided to begin a winemaking project....
Central question.....
What would happen if you give a group of winemakers a framework of varietals and ask them to make a wine. One that is totally unique, accessible and interesting. A representation of the specified grapes from the appellation, but with the fingerprints of each personality. Would you end up with similar wines? Would they be drastically different?
The answer lies within....
THE BASE
As Livermore Valley Wineries we agreed to create a blend from 100% Livermore Valley fruit, leaning on the exceptional quality found within our appellation. In order to retain clarity of purpose, no more than 50% new oak is to be used, and no adjuncts may be added.
PRODUCTION GUIDELINES
The framework that ties the wines together can vary year by year.
The 2020 vintage of LVVC will be made up of 5 different varietals of winemakers' choice each comprising 20% of the blend.
GETTING A TASTE
The grand release of the 2020 vintage will be Saturday, June 24th at the Bankhead Theatre in Livermore from 1:00PM until 4:00PM.

The LVVC project was conceived as a "framework" project where each winemaker would build out a wine, within the agreed upon framework to fit their own style.
